What should i do about a toenail with an ingrown nail?

a couple weeks ago,my toenail came off.i play softball so you run around in cleats for a good couple of hours.I'm guessing they were too tight or maybe too loose,who knows.i also had a couple of softballs hit into my toe nail.Those big softballs do hurt when they are coming at a pretty good speed at your foot.i recognized that my toenail was a little bruised maybe about a month ago.so when my toenail was just about to come off,i pulled it off because it was just annoying to look at your own toenail dangling off.The toe nail was still embedded in the corner.It didn't bleed or anything because there was already a nail growing under.so a couple of days later,i recognized a part of my nail looked chipped off with an ingrown underneath.so what i did was i clipped it off with nail clippers.Little did I know that would make the problem 10 times worse.Well thanks for reading my nasty toenail problem,i appreciate it.Please give me some tips about what to doo (:
