Clipping horse's ears-trouble?

So i need to clip my horses ears for a show, just the hair that has grown out of his ear from the winter, he hates the clippers though, usually my instructor/trainer would help me and we would twitch him. but she is gone so i don't know what to do what is a good way to get him used to them? he is fine with his bridle path but no his ears. thanks
